Farmers Take to the Streets Over Fertilizer Crisis

Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are currently grappling with a severe shortage of fertilizers, leading to long queues and frustration. In Hamirpur, the situation escalated as farmers protested on the national highway due to the lack of fertilizers at the Maudaha PCF distribution center. The protest prompted a response from local police and administrative officials.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) arrived to address the farmers but ended up in a heated exchange. While speaking into a microphone, he reacted angrily to a farmer's comment, threatening, "One slap and you will urinate." This incident has since gone viral on social media.

In recent months, farmers have been increasingly frustrated with the fertilizer distribution process. The situation in Hamirpur is reflective of a broader issue, as many farmers across various districts are encountering similar challenges. Reports indicate that employees at the distribution center are not adhering to proper schedules, opening at 10 a.m. and closing by 4 p.m., which limits access for many farmers.
