Bargain Hunt expert James Lewis has tied the knot with a man 18 years his junior after splitting from his wife. The 53-year-old BBC auctioneer and antiques expert tied the knot with Ed Otter in September 2025 in front of just 50 guests, with his 17-year-old daughter Arabella, from his first marriage, in attendance.

James told The Mirror: "I met my husband 15 years ago playing pool, of all things, in the local pub in Derbyshire. Was it love at first sight? Pretty much, yeah. I had split up from my wife, my daughter's mum. And I was just ready." Though the couple intended to elope in Yellowstone National Park, they decided against it - wanting to invite their parents and James' daughter.

He chuckled: "Arabella says, 'which one of you is going to walk me up the aisle when I get married? She said, can we have a wide aisle, and can you both walk me up?' So we couldn't do it without Arabella."

She now calls both of them "Dad", and James said Ed gets on with his daughter "so well".

In lieu of gifts at the wedding, the pair asked instead for donations to the Born Free Foundation, an animal rights charity that helps protect wild animals from exploitation.

James was previously married to his wife Annabelle, who he worked with at his family's company Bamfords Auctioneers. He admitted working with his new husband, however, is "a lot easier" than it was working with his ex-wife.

James originally founded the company in 2002 with his parents - including his dad Colin Lewis, who invented the painkiller Nurofen. Ed now works for the company as the toys, trains and juvenalia specialist.

The pair enjoy taking holidays together and looking for wildlife - and James describes himself as "very lucky".
