Seasoned defender Andy Robertson has become the first signing under Roberto De Zerbi’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Scottish international expressed his excitement about joining Spurs, stating that he cannot wait to represent the north London club on the pitch.

Robertson’s transfer to Tottenham will become official on July 1, following the conclusion of his contract with Liverpool. The deal was formally confirmed on Friday, as the left-back currently prepares in the United States for the upcoming World Cup.

In April, the 32-year-old announced his decision to leave Liverpool after a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield. During his time with the Reds, Robertson secured an impressive collection of silverware, including two Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Community Shield.

Having fallen behind Milos Kerkez in Liverpool’s pecking order last season, Tottenham quickly acted to secure the experienced full-back’s services.

In a specially recorded message to Tottenham supporters, Robertson shared his enthusiasm about this new chapter in his career. He said, “Hello Tottenham fans, it’s Andy Robertson here. As you can see, I’m currently in the United States preparing for the World Cup.”

“I just wanted to send a quick message to say that I’m really looking forward to playing for you all.”

“I can’t wait to meet you, to play at the stadium in front of you for the first time, and I’m already excited for the upcoming season.”

“Take care, and I’ll see you soon.”

Tottenham’s sporting director Johan Lange also spoke about the signing, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the club.”

“First and foremost, he is an exceptional left-back—one of the finest in Premier League history—and he will undoubtedly strengthen our squad.”

“Beyond his abilities on the field, his leadership, professionalism, and winning mentality have been evident throughout a career filled with major honours.”

“Andy’s experience and commitment will be invaluable to our team’s development, and he shares our ambition to bring success back to Tottenham Hotspur.”

“We are eagerly looking forward to Andy joining us after the World Cup and beginning this new chapter together.”
