The Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy has officially been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against England. In his place, Shivam Dube, the Mumbai all-rounder who is with the T20I squad, has been called up for the ODI series.

 

This made Dube their third-choice fast bowling all-rounder. Hardik Pandya, who is also injured and is undergoing rehab in the BCCI CoE, missed the series too.

 

What happened to Nitish Reddy?

 

During the third ODI against Afghanistan, Reddy suffered from a left quadricep injury. Since he has not played any competitive cricket. Suryansh Shedge was added to both the T20I squads against Ireland and England.

 

Reddy is currently rehabilitating in the CoE. The doctors believed that he would be back by July, but the England series would be too early for him. He was expected to join the side for the T20I series against Zimbabwe. But its Shedge who continue to exist there.

 

When did Shivam Dube play his last ODI?

 

Shivam Dube’s ODI career with India remains brief, with his last appearance coming against Sri Lanka on August 7, 2024, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

 

Since making his debut against the West Indies in December 2019, Dube has featured in only four ODIs, largely due to his role as a T20 specialist. He has scored 43 runs in four innings at an average of 10.75 and a strike rate of 89.58, with a highest score of 25.

 

With the ball, the all-rounder has managed just one wicket from 17.5 overs, conceding 106 runs at an economy rate of 5.94.

Updates on Virat Kohli

 

The BCCI’s updated squad list removed the asterisk beside Virat Kohli’s name, indicating he has regained full fitness for the ODI series. Kohli had been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the 2026 IPL final and missed the Afghanistan ODIs. His return comes at a vital time in India’s 2027 World Cup build-up.
