India AI Adoption: More Indians than ever are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their lives, but people don’t know where to start learning AI skills. According to a new study by upGrad, 56% of people can’t decide where to start learning AI (Artificial Intelligence) and consider this the biggest obstacle to their studies. While 43% people are bothered by the abundance of courses available on the internet and difficulty in choosing the right and reliable course. This is stated in upGrad’s annual report on AI skills in India, Skill Shift. The report is based on feedback from around 2,100 learners across different cities in India and at different stages of their careers.

94% of people are using AI

The report states that the use of AI has become common across the country. About 94% said they use AI in some way, and more than half, 53%, said they use it every day. This trend is seen not only in big cities but also in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, indicating that the shift towards AI-based work is no longer limited to big cities.

Willingness to spend money to learn

The study also highlights the investment employees and students are making in learning AI- skills. People are willing to spend money to learn AI. About 87% of respondents said they were either already enrolled in an AI program or were considering or planning to improve their skills in the field.

The report also highlighted that experienced professionals are increasingly interested in learning AI. Among beginners, the daily use of AI is 44%, while among professionals with more than eight years of work experience, this figure rises to 62%.

The rapidly growing craze for AI

According to the report, many students see better career options from adopting AI. About 54% of students reported that AI has led to positive career outcomes. Meanwhile, 49% said AI has enabled them to perform tasks beyond their previous abilities. The report highlights the rapidly expanding AI ecosystem in India, where adoption has greatly increased skill development.
