Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the construction work of India's first bullet train project is progressing rapidly. This corridor, being built in diverse geographical areas of Thane and Palghar of Maharashtra, is going to become a great example of the modern rail engineering capability of the country.

Sharing a glimpse of the construction work of the project, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a 135.45 km long elevated section is being constructed from Shilphata in Thane district to Jaroli village located on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.

This section includes 124.027 km of viaducts and bridges. Construction of three elevated bullet train stations is going on in Thane, Virar and Boisar. Keeping environmental protection in mind, the concourse level of Thane station has been kept about 12 meters above the natural ground, so that the mangrove area can be protected.

Under the project, pier construction is going on in more than 100 km area and about 74 km of piers are ready for installation of viaduct girders. To speed up the construction, 9 casting yards, 7 full-span launching gantries and 8 SBS launching gantries are operational in Maharashtra.

7 mountain tunnels are also being built in this section, out of which breakthrough of 3 has been completed. Drainage, waterproofing and lining work is now going on in these tunnels.

Apart from this, construction of 460 meter long major bridges on Ulhas River, 2.32 kilometer long on Vaitarna River and 510 meter long bridge on Jagani River is also in progress. The project comprises a total of 36 bridges and crossings, of which 12 steel bridges will cross important locations including major railway lines, Ulhas River, Mumbai-Nashik Highway.

The ongoing construction work in Thane and Palghar showcases the sheer scale and state-of-the-art engineering capability of India's first bullet train project. This project is considered an important step towards the expansion of high-speed rail network in the country.
