The news of a male and a female elephant straying from Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh and reaching the Drummondganj forest area of ​​Mirzapur district has created panic in the nearby villages. As soon as the news of the presence of elephants was received, the Forest Department team became active and their location is being continuously monitored through GPS tracking.

On information from the villagers, Drummondganj forest area officials and forest guards reached the spot and started searching for the elephants. It is being told that the team of Hanumana forest area of ​​Madhya Pradesh is also keeping an eye on the activities of elephants with the help of collar ID and GPS tracking fitted around their necks.

On Sunday morning, the pair of elephants passed through Ganghar forest and reached the dense forest area located on top of Mahuadi hill. Forest workers are continuously tracing their location. After this, information about the location of both the elephants in the forest area in front of Baram Baba temple came to light at around 5 pm. Although the forest department team searched at many places in the forest, the elephants were not visible till late evening.

According to Forest Guard Anadi Nath Tiwari, the female elephant is pregnant, due to which the department's concern has increased. In such a situation, disturbing the elephants in any way or trying to get close to them can give rise to serious danger. The Forest Department has alerted the people of the villages adjacent to the forest and has given a clear warning that no person should go after the elephants, should not gather in crowd to make videos from mobile and should avoid unnecessary movement towards the forest.

The knocking of wild elephants in the Drummondganj area has created an atmosphere of fear among the villagers. The question is also arising that if the herd of elephants moves towards the population, then what will be the immediate and effective arrangement for the safety of the villagers? Even though the Forest Department is claiming to monitor elephants through GPS tracking, there is panic among the people of the villages adjacent to the forest. Villagers say that the administration and the forest department should not be limited to just tracking the location, but should already strengthen security arrangements, vigilance teams and continuous information system in villages with potential danger.

At present, the Forest Department team is engaged in safe monitoring of elephants and the villagers have been appealed not to pay attention to rumours, not to allow children and animals to go towards the forest and to immediately inform the Forest Department if they see the presence of elephants. This knock of elephants in the forest of Drummondganj has now become a big challenge for the forest department, because even a little carelessness can prove to be a danger to both humans and wildlife.
