Jio added about 5.7 lakh new connections in the home broadband market during August. This is about two and a half times more than its nearest competitor Airtel. Wireless home broadband i.e. JioAirFiber played a big role in this growth of Jio. According to the recently released subscriber data of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel added about 2.27 lakh home broadband connections during the same period.

Jio's wired home broadband connections increased by about 1.88 lakh in August. At the same time, by combining 5G fixed wireless and UBR, the company added about 3.79 lakh new wireless home broadband connections. Airtel's fixed wireless connections increased by about 96 thousand.

Jio also remains ahead in total number of subscribers. At the end of August, Jio had around 1.48 crore fixed wired broadband customers, while Airtel had around 1.14 crore customers.

In wireless home broadband, Jio's 5G AirFiber connections increased to about 94.19 lakh. Apart from this, Jio also had about 53.68 lakh fixed wireless connections based on UBR. Including both, Jio's share in the fixed wireless market was about 78.6 percent.

According to TRAI, the total fixed wireless broadband connections in the country increased from 1.884 crore in July to 1.934 crore in August. That is, this segment which provides internet to the home without laying wires is continuously growing rapidly.
