Shimla : Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday announced that three Himachali members of the Indian women’s kabaddi team — Pushpa Rana , Jyoti Thakur and Bhawna Thakur — would be awarded at least Rs 1 crore each by the state govt for winning gold at the Asian Games .
Sukhu also announced Rs 1 crore for Indian women’s cricketer Renuka Thakur in recognition of her achievements. The players met the chief minister, who congratulated them and honoured them with Himachali caps and shawls.
He said a felicitation ceremony would soon be organised, where the prize money would be presented to the players. Sukhu also announced govt jobs for the three kabaddi players.
Those unwilling to join the police department would be offered appointments in the youth services and sports department, allowing them to continue their sporting careers while promoting sports in the state.
Sukhu said the govt had significantly enhanced prize money under its revised sports policy and was strengthening sports infrastructure.
