The Indian T20 team for the New Zealand tour has been announced. Experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also got a place in the team for this tour. Bhuvneshwar is returning to Team India after 4 years. He last played an international match for the Indian team in New Zealand in November 2022. Bhuvneshwar, known as the 'Prince of Swing', made Royal Challengers Bangalore champion again by taking 28 wickets in IPL 2026, for which he has been rewarded.

Apart from Bhuvneshwar, Varun Chakraborty has also returned to the team. Varun, who was out of the Asian Games due to injury, has returned to the team after getting fit. Ravi Bishnoi has been shown the way out. Naman Dheer, who made his T20I debut against West Indies in Lucknow, has also been selected for the New Zealand tour. Apart from this there is no change in batting.

Rest for Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the T20 team after the Asian Games 2026. He will now be seen playing more ODI matches to prepare for the 2027 World Cup. Hardik Pandya has also been kept away from the T20 team. Harshit Rana was not available for selection. In such a situation, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav have got a chance. The T20 series between India and New Zealand will start from October 22.

Team announced for multi-day matches also

The Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced the India-A squad for the multi-day matches on the New Zealand tour, which is commanded by Dhruv Jurel. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are also in the team. Ravichandran Smaran, Mukesh Kumar and Mukesh Chaudhary, who performed brilliantly in the Irani Cup match against Jammu and Kashmir, have also been included in the team. Rishabh Pant is part of the squad but he will have to prove his fitness.
