NEW DELHI: Cabinet on Tuesday adopted a resolution hailing the achievements of Narendra Modi in the last 25 years, first as chief minister of Gujarat and subsequently as PM.

I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the resolution marks Modi's uninterrupted public service between Oct 7, 2001 and Oct 7, 2026. The resolution listed decisions taken by Modi which have touched the lives of common man and has given the country confidence. Vaishnaw said Modi's success and long service is a result of people's trust and faith in his style of governance and a vibrant example of the strength of Indian democracy.

The resolution highlighted PM's tenure with a list of policy and political mandate he has got in Gujarat and at Centre. It mentioned initiatives from Modi's tenure as Gujarat CM that were adopted and extended at the national level. These included SWAGAT, the grievance-redressal system through which Modi interacted with citizens in Gujarat, and PRAGATI, Centre's platform for reviewing major projects and resolving implementation hurdles.

It also cited Gujarat's Jyotigram scheme, which created separate agricultural electricity feeders, as an approach subsequently expanded nationally. The resolution linked Modi's experience of poverty with welfare initiatives, citing 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts , over 4 crore homes and 25 crore people moving out of poverty.

It highlighted women's empowerment, saying nearly 3.5 crore women had become Lakhpati Didis, while Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam provided for women's reservation.

PM-KISAN transfers exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore and PM-JANMAN for vulnerable tribal groups were also cited.
