Rohtak : An integrated waste management facility , including a biogas plant , was inaugurated at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Wednesday.




Rajya Sabha member Satish Poonia , who inaugurated the facility, stressed the need to promote renewable energy and environmental awareness amid the growing threat of global warming .




The facility will convert organic waste generated on the university campus into biogas. MDU vice-chancellor Prof Milap Punia said the plant would meet the energy requirements of three girls’ hostels, besides reducing CO2 emissions and strengthening the university’s green-energy initiatives.
