Patna. An important step has been taken towards strengthening the railway network in Bihar. The 20 km long Neora-Jatdamri rail line in Danapur division of East Central Railway has received safety clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). After successful trials on this route at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, the way has now been cleared for its operation.
Goods trains will get alternative route
The biggest advantage of the new railway line will be that there will be less need for goods trains to pass through Patna Junction. They will be able to go towards Kiul via Neora, Jatdamri, Daniyawan, Bihar Sharif, Barbigha, Sheikhpura. This will help in reducing pressure on the busy Delhi-Howrah railway route.
Capacity will increase for passenger trains
Due to reduced movement of goods trains around Patna and Danapur, additional track capacity may be available for operation of passenger trains. This will improve the punctuality of trains and increase the possibilities of running new passenger trains in future.
Construction of new stations and bridges also
Many facilities including Gonpur station and Adhapa, Chamcham and Wajidpur halts have been developed under this project. Road overbridges, underpasses and other engineering structures have also been built along with major and minor bridges on the rail line.
The new rail line is expected to help improve freight transportation in Bihar and reduce pressure on busy railway sections. This can also have significant benefits in increasing the capacity of the state's rail network.
