The Kerala government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners by 2 percent. After this decision, dearness allowance and dearness relief have increased from 35 percent to 37 percent. The state finance department has issued an order in this regard.

Due to the government's decision, the salary of eligible employees and dearness relief in pension of pensioners will increase. The increased dearness allowance will be given along with the salary of October 2026, which will be paid in November. At the same time, there is a provision to get revised dearness relief along with the pension of November 2026.

Which employees will get the benefit?

Along with the state government employees, teachers and employees working in aided schools will also benefit from this decision of the Kerala government. Apart from this, eligible employees of private colleges and polytechnic institutions, full-time contractual and temporary employees and employees of local bodies are also covered under it. Talking about pensioners, state service pensioners, people receiving family pension and ex-gratia pensioners will also get the benefit of increased dearness relief.

What are the rules for KSEB and KSRTC employees?

According to the government order, this increase will not automatically be applicable to the employees of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). These organizations will have to issue separate orders to dearness allowance and dearness relief at their level.

How much relief will the employees get from this decision of the government?

With the increase in dearness allowance, the amount received by the employees on the basis of basic salary will increase. At the same time, pensioners will also get additional benefits from the increase in dearness relief. However, the actual amount of increase will depend on the basic salary or pension of the concerned employee.
