A 34-year-old man has died after a horror crash outside an Aldi supermarket in Liverpool.
Emergency services were called to Northway in Merseyside around 8:30am this morning, Wednesday May 14, reported. This followed a report that a Suzuki motorbike had been involved in a crash with a blue Renault Zoe outside an Aldi store on the road.
The rider of the bike, a 34-year-old man from the nearby area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Merseyside Police confirmed the man's next of kin have already been made aware and are receiving support from trained officers. Officers are also being assisted in their enquiries by the driver of the car, who stopped at the scene.
Drivers who may have been in the area at the time have been called upon by police to check dashcam or mobile phone footage from around 8:30am.
There remains a large cordon in place on the road, with closures in place on Northway (A59) and Liverpool Road South between Hall Lane and Switch Island. Emergency services are at the scene and authorities have advised drivers to avoid the area while the incident is dealt with.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, lead investigating officer from Merseyside Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died. I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public who stopped at the scene and assisted in administering first aid.
"We know this road would have been busy around 8.30am with commuters, buses and school traffic and I would appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity who saw or heard anything or thinks they captured something significant on their dashcam or mobile phone to contact us."
Anyone who is able to assist police can direct message @MerPolCC, contact SCIU on 0151 777 5747, or email quoting log 172 of 14 May.
