Kapil Sharma , one of the most loved Indian comedian and TV celebrity, once revealed how he had impressed his wife, Ginni Chatrath , back in college. In several interviews, Kapil has narrated their initial bonding, the cultural and class gap between them, and how humor was his greatest support in capturing her heart.
The two first crossed paths during their college days in Punjab. Kapil was then a senior and headed the theatre team of his college, while Ginni was a student from an adjacent girls' college who used to take part in inter-college drama contests. Kapil, in previous interviews, said their common interest in dramatics drew them together.
He had mentioned that during his work on college skits and plays, they became familiar with one another. Ginni came from a wealthy family, but he was from a humble, middle-class family, he said.

He never thought she would ever see him as more than a friend, he said.
Kapil has said to have revealed that his humor was what made him stand out. He explained that he used to make her laugh during rehearsals and informal discussions, establishing a connection that was founded on trust and friendship over time.
He had also revealed that Ginni would sometimes bring home-cooked food for him, which became one of the earliest signs of their close connection. “She used to bring food from home, and I’d eat most of it,” Kapil once said, suggesting that even small gestures played a role in strengthening their relationship.

Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath married in December 2018 in a lavish wedding in Jalandhar, Punjab. The wedding was also graced by family, friends, and some celebrities from the entertainment and television industry.
