's show is back for season four, and this season, it will highlight his search for a pub in Oxfordshire. Fans who follow Clarkson know that since filming the series, he has opened The Farmer's Dog in Burford, Oxfordshire. The pub, despite facing a number of disasters since its opening last summer, seems to be a huge success with punters, with huge numbers of punters flocking to the destination venue from all around the country.
Wanting to see what all the fuss was about, I paid The Farmer's Dog a visit after heading over to the Diddly Squat farm. as hundreds of people took advantage of the sunshine and flocked to the pub. With the attendant confirming every weekend brought in similar queues, I was apprehensive about what his pub, which was ten minutes down the road, would be like as I feared I would spending my day in the sun just waiting around for service.
But for fans of the show wanting to visit, here's a secret for you... save the trip to the Diddly Squat farm and just head straight to the pub. I know the farm is better known as it's the highlight of Clarkson's Farm, but if you want a more relaxed day out to enjoy Clarkson's products and venue without the queuing and portaloos, the Farmer's Dog is just the thing for you.
Not only does it have the pretty main building which has already been shown in the series, it also has the Farmer's Puppy, a huge marquee which sells drinks and hot food, and also has a fully stocked shop with all of his produce, including a dedicated section to his famous Hawkstone beer and cider.
Thanks to the huge car park and endless seating options in the garden, featuring a beautiful view of the Cotswolds, I was able to order and sit down in seconds. I opted for his famous Hawkstone cider and a bacon roll outside, both of which went down quickly.
The pub quickly began to fill up as the lunch bookings began to come in, but with a dedicated area just for drinks, we were able to take our time and enjoy the sunshine.
So take it froms someone who spent her afternoon sampling the drinks in the Farmer's Dog, skip the shop and head straight to the pub garden.
