There is going to be a big change in India’s Internet market once again. Alan Musk’s company Starlink and the second large satellite internet service provider companies such as Bharti Group’s Eutelsat Onweb, Reliance Jio and Joint Venture of SES, and GlobalStar are now preparing to start their services in the country.
What is Starlink’s plan?
According to reports, Starlink is planning to give unlimited data plans in India for just $ 10 a month i.e. about 840 rupees. This price will be amazing in the Indian Internet market.
Cheap satellite internet starts in India
India is the second largest telecom market in the world, so Starlink wants to enter a low price to strengthen its grip.
However, Starlink’s internet plan will be cheaper, but hardware i.e. their dish-cut may be expensive, which can be priced from about $ 250 to $ 380 (21,300 to 32,400 rupees).
In comparison, broadband companies in India offer 1 GBPS speed and unlimited data for less than Rs 1000, as well as OTT subscriptions. Therefore, the price of hardware can become a major challenge for common users.
What is the license status?
Eultsat Onweb and Jio-SES have been approved to provide internet service in India.
Starlink has received Letter of Intent (Loi) from the telecom department. Now the bus is waiting for the final permission from the Space Regulator.
Tension will increase for telecom giants
If Starlink starts its service at this price, companies like Airtel, Jio, VI and BSNL will get a tough competition.
This is expected to improve both the quality and access of the Internet in rural India.
