New Delhi: Schools across the southern states are set to reopen after the summer vacation, with most schools and colleges expected to reopen in the first or second week of June 2025. However, in certain regions there may be changes in reopening schedules due to weather conditions.

While schools in most states will follow the planned schedules, changes may occur in rain-affected regions. Parents and students are advised to stay in touch with local authorities or school administrations for any last-minute updates.

Here’s a state-wise update on school reopening dates:

Tamil Nadu

Schools in Tamil Nadu are scheduled to reopen on June 2 after the summer vacation that started on April 30.

However, the date is subject to change according to the orders from the State Climate Management Committee. Regions like Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari are expected to receive heavy rainfall. If adverse weather affects these areas, reopening may be postponed. The final confirmation will be as per the weather forecasts closer to June.

Karnataka

Schools in Karnataka reopen on May 29. The summer vacation started on April 10 and ended on May 28, where students got a break of about 49 days.

All state-run and private schools are expected to resume classes as per this schedule unless any specific weather- disruptions arise.

Telangana

In Telangana, schools will reopen on June 12 as per the official academic calendar issued by the Telangana Education Department. Summer holidays began on April 24, giving students a 46-day break. Meanwhile, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has declared summer vacation for junior colleges from March 31 to June 1. Intermediate students can expect their classes to resume starting June 3, 2025.
