co-owner Preity Zinta congratulated her players for reaching the final of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Shreyas Iyer-led team topped the IPL 2025 points table with 19 points and entered the finals by defeating five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The Bollywood actress lauded captain Iyer, head coach Ricky Ponting and the coaching staff for their efforts to get the team into the finals after 11long years. She also hailed all the players Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell and Marco Jansen for their contributions to the team’s success, even though they are currently not a part of the team.

She acknowledged their role in helping the franchise reach the final.

“All smiles as PunjabKingsIPL make it to the final after a SUPER TEAM EFFORT led by our dynamic sarpanch ShreyasIyer, our passionate coach RickyPonting & the entire coaching staff & everyone at PBKS. Today will be incomplete without mentioning Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell & Marco Jansen for making this final possible. One more game to go,” Zinta wrote on her X account.

The 2014 finalist will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on June 3 in Ahmedabad. PBKS were crushed by RCB in the Qualifier 1 and had to play the Qualifier 2 against MI. However, they bounced back from the loss with a brilliant show by Iyer that led the franchise to enter the final.

On the other hand, RCB ended up second in the points table and played Qualifier 1 against PBKS. RCB bowlers delivered exceptional spells to dismantle the PBKS players and eventually entered the finals with a convincing eight-wicket win with a whopping 10 overs to spare.
