As excitement grows around ‘ Housefull 5 ’, director Tarun Mansukhani has looked back on a key moment from his early days in the film industry – working with Shah Rukh Khan . In a recent chat with Galatta India, the filmmaker spoke about the valuable lessons he picked up from the Bollywood superstar while shooting ‘ Dostana ’, calling the experience “amazing”.
Shah Rukh’s Dedication Left a Strong Impression

Mansukhani fondly remembered Shah Rukh Khan’s dedication on set. “There’s never a day with him where the scene isn’t completed,” he said. “You’ll never hear him say he wants to go home. It’s always, ‘Have you finished your work for the day?’”
The director pointed out that SRK’s efforts went far beyond just acting. “I’ve seen him picking up chairs and helping wrap up shoots quickly when rain was approaching.

He’d become like an assistant director just to get things done efficiently,” he shared, praising Khan’s hands-on nature and his willingness to guide younger team members.
Advice That Shaped a Director’s Thinking

One of the most striking bits of advice came during ‘Dostana’, when Shah Rukh offered Mansukhani a much-needed reality check about directing. “He told me, ‘What you think is directing is just 1% of filmmaking. 99% is about handling people,’” Mansukhani said. This simple but powerful insight helped him grasp the bigger picture of leadership and team management in the world of filmmaking.
A Full-Circle Moment with ‘Housefull 5’

Now directing ‘Housefull 5’, which hits cinemas on 6 June 2025, Tarun Mansukhani seems to be carrying those early lessons with him.
Expectations are running high, and the recently released trailer has received a positive response from audiences. The comedy promises a full-on entertainer with an added murder mystery twist.
