New Delhi . In the 5 Test Match Series between India and England, starting on June 20, the new era of Indian cricket will not start, but it will also be a new beginning of India-England cricket. Actually, this Test series will not be played for the trophy, for which there has been a competition between the Test teams of India and England for the last 17 years. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has retired the Nawab Pataudi Trophy, the Nawab Pataudi Trophy of India-England Test. It will now replace a new trophy, which has been named Tendulkar Anderson Trophy. This decision was taken about 2 months ago, which has now been approved after the consent of the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI).
New trophy will be revealed on June 11
The new trophy of the Indo-England Test series will appear on June 11. It will be unveiled at Lord’s Cricket Stadium, which is called ‘Mecca of Cricket’. According to ESPNCRICINFO report, the trophy will be unveiled during the World Test Championship Final (WTC Final).
The Pataudi Trophy started 17 years ago
Nawab Pataudi was the youngest captain of his time and the youngest cricketer for India. Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, father of Nawab Pataudi, known as Tiger Pataudi, played cricket for both India and England.
From Gavaskar to Sharmila Tagore, all got angry
The ECB announced the retirement of the Pataudi Trophy two months ago. After hearing this news, the great Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was very angry. He described it as a disturbing news. Also said that this will be the first decision of its kind in history. This reflects the complete lack of sensitivity to Pataudi’s contribution to cricket in both England and India. The news of retiring the Pataudi Trophy was also objected by Veteran Bollywood actress and Sharmila Tagore, wife of late Nawab Pataudi. He had said that whether BCCI wants to remember the legacy of Tiger or not, it has to be decided.
