World Day Against Child Labor 2025: Every year on June 12, World Child Labor Day is celebrated worldwide. The aim is to spread awareness against the exploitation of children and take steps towards eliminating child labor through collective efforts. This day attracts attention to the condition of children who are forced to work by depriving them of education.

Child labor is the situation in which children below 14 years are made to work in homes, shops, fields, factories and other places. The biggest reason for this is poverty, family pressure or exploitation. This day reminds us that every child has the right to live education, security and healthy life, and for this, the responsibility of every person of the society is fixed.

Children’s health and nutrition are also affected

Child labor not only deprives education, but also has a profound effect on mental and physical health of children. Experts say that security of children’s nutrition is also a big concern today. For example, some fruits such as litchi can be harmful for young children, so they need special precautions while feeding.

Millions of children are still doing dangerous work

According to United Nations data, a total of 138 million children in the world, or 13.8 crore children are engaged in child labor, out of which 54 million, or 5.4 crore children are working under dangerous conditions. These include risky places like mines.

Most child laborers in Africa and Asia

According to the UN report, in Africa, the percentage of child labor is the highest percentage of total children, ie about 7.2 crore children. Asia and Pacific are second in this list, where 7% children i.e. 6.2 crore children are engaged in child labor.

Child labor situation worldwide

Globally, Africa, Asia and Pacific regions together represent about 90% of global child laborers. The remaining parts include the US (1.1 crore), Europe and Central Asia (60 lakhs) and Arab countries (1 million). According to regional rates, 5%in the US, 4%in Europe and Central Asia, and 3%of children in Arab countries engage in child labor.

The challenge of child labor remains serious even today, and its solution is possible only when governments, society and common people take active steps together. The message of this day is clear that every child should get his right, not his innocence should be given to wages.
