India’s passenger vehicle market saw a mixed bag in June 2025 as leading carmakers posted varied sales results. While Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the charts, it reported a noticeable year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, Mahindra and Toyota saw positive growth, and other brands like Skoda and Kia posted strong performances during the first half of the year. It is important to note that Kia and Skoda had not released their monthly sales figures at the time this story was filed.Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 1,67,993 units in June 2025, registering a 6% drop compared to the same month last year. Its domestic sales declined by 15%, down to 1,21,339 units from 1,39,918 units in June 2024. Exports also fell slightly, although the company’s OEM supply to Toyota Kirlloskar Motor inched up to 8,812 units from 8,277 a year ago.Hyundai Motor India sold 60,924 vehicles in June, with 44,024 units going to the domestic market and 16,900 units exported. SUVs remained the brand’s strength, contributing over 67% of its domestic sales. Tata Motors witnessed a dip in performance with total domestic dispatches dropping to 65,019 units, a 12% decline from 74,147 units in June last year.
Passenger vehicle sales, including EVs, were down 15% at 37,083 units, signaling a softer month for the automaker.On the other hand, Mahindra posted strong numbers, selling 47,306 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in June: an 18% increase from 40,022 units in the same month last year. The company also exported 2,634 vehicles, marking a slight improvement from June 2024’s 2,597 units.Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a 5% increase in June 2025 sales, with 28,869 units sold compared to 27,474 units in June last year. This growth was supported by continued demand for its SUV and MPV offerings.

 

JSW MG Motor India saw a strong 21% year-on-year growth with 5,829 units dispatched in June, driven largely by rising demand for electric models like the MG Windsor.Skoda Auto India reached a major milestone with its best-ever half-yearly performance in the country. The carmaker sold 36,194 units in H1 2025, up from 28,899 units in H1 2022, moving it into the top seven carmakers in India.Kia India also recorded healthy growth, dispatching 1,42,139 vehicles in the first half of 2025 – a 12.7% increase over the 1,26,137 units it sold during the same period in 2024.Honda Cars India reported modest figures, with total sales at 5,124 units in June. Of these, 4,618 units were sold domestically while 506 units were exported.
