Saina Nehwal reached the quarter -finals for the first time, showing a brilliant game at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She then won a bronze medal for the first time at the 2012 London Olympics, with the first Indian woman badminton player to win a bronze medal at Saina Olympics.

On the other hand, Parupalli Kashyap made a gold medal winning history at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and he became the first Indian men’s badminton player to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after 32 years.
