Mohanlal, over his decades of service in the film community, has proved himself to be a versatile character, loved by the masses. From intense dramas to light-hearted comedies, the veteran star has continuously reinvented himself to match the pulse of his audience. His recent release Thudarum was highly lauded, particularly for the return of “OG Lalettan” back on the big screen.

Now, the Mollywood actor has taken the internet by storm once again—but this time, not for a film.

A recent advertisement for jewellery store has got the internet talking. The ad, directed by his Thudarum co-star Prakash Varma—who is also featured in the ad—shows Mohanlal arriving for the shoot for the ad. The veteran actor spots the jewellery to be worn by a model, cheekily pockets it, and quietly sneaks away to his trailer, while the studio is in disarray as they presume theft.

The narrative then takes a heart-warming turn. The scene shifts to Mohanlal wearing the jewels, performing a fluid dance while admiring himself in the mirror. As Varma enters Mohanlal’s trailer, the pair share a laugh, while the actor shyly says, “Anyone will get tempted”.

The advertisement has taken the internet by storm, many appreciating the actor for breaking societal barriers, and for embracing “femininity”. One user called the ad a “cinematic masterpiece”.

Another user wrote, “Truly Showcasing The Meaning of Acting Maestro [sic].”

A Mollywood fan page called Mohanlal “The Complete Actor”.
