Ceiling Fan Speed Issue: Ceiling fans become one of the most essential components during the summer, but due to various reasons, their speed can slow down. If this happens, there are a few simple steps to fix it.

Ceiling Fan Speed Issue: If a ceiling fan stops working during the summer season , it becomes a disaster. Even if you use AC and a cooler, using them all day is quite expensive. In case of a power cut, the ceiling fan can only run on an inverter battery. Many times, after continuous use, the fan speed decreases. Even if you have set the highest speed on the regulator, the fan does not run at that speed. If your fan has slowed down, then you should try these things before replacing it.

Replace the capacitor - If the fan's speed has slowed down and it's not blowing air properly, there may be a problem with the capacitor. This small part helps the fan run at full speed. As it ages and malfunctions, the fan's speed decreases. Therefore, consider replacing the capacitor. This is inexpensive and available at any electrical shop.

Check the regulator - This is rare, but sometimes a fault in the regulator can slow down the fan's speed. When the regulator is faulty, the fan doesn't receive its full voltage and rotates at a very slow speed. Therefore, try replacing the regulator. If the fan rotates at full speed again, it's likely a fault in the regulator.

Blade Alignment - If the fan blades are bent or misaligned, the fan may stop blowing air. This will require more power to rotate the fan, which can be harmful to other parts. Therefore, check the blade alignment. If a blade appears bent, it can be straightened manually. Also, keep the blades clean for maximum airflow. Dirt buildup on the blades makes them heavier, putting more strain on the motor to rotate them.

Bearing maintenance is also important. Most ceiling fans have two ball bearings, and these require maintenance. Dry bearings can cause the fan to become noisy and sometimes even slow down. In such a situation, applying a little oil or lubricant to the bearings can help. If the bearings are completely worn out, call an electrician to have them replaced.
