The meaning of ECR (Emigration Check Required) and ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required) might be ambiguous to many Indian passport holders. In particular, these two terms may become critical when one seeks to apply for or renew his or her passport, or intends to look for employment abroad. However, there is very little difference between them concerning tourism and vacation trips to foreign destinations. What are ECR and ECNR?ECR means Emigration Check Required, while ECNR means Emigration Check Not Required, or Non-ECR.
